The Great Holiday Burn-Off is Glenwood Springs Kiwanis’ annual active movement virtual challenge to support programs for kids in our communities. This year funds will purchase books to be distributed in partnership with Early Literacy program Raising A Reader. This outstanding nonprofit provides books and literacy experiences to pre-K kids from Aspen to Parachute. All registration fees will be used to purchase books for free distribution to Pre-K kids.
The Challenges: This year the Burn-Off will have Individual and Team divisions. Teams consist of up to 5 members who pool and report their combined time of activity. Members of Teams are not allowed to also enter as individual participants.
The Challenge runs from Jan. 6 – Feb. 2. Designed for all levels of ability and fitness, this virtual contest is based on exercise time, and any activity counts: walking, skiing, biking, swimming, gym workouts, yoga, etc. Track your time and report total time weekly, using Strava or email. Details provided after registration.
The Prizes: A minimum of 15 prizes will be awarded. Top 2 prizes for both the Individual and Team Challenges are 1) 2 nights lodging in a Moab condo or 2) an Aspen Ski package donated by Aspen Skiing Company. (Ski packages may include lift tickets, rentals, or one day private ski lessons!) Additional prizes include gift cards, services, and merchandise donated by Kiwanis members and local businesses.
The Winners: Based on total exercise time reported during the contest, the top 2 Individual entrants and the top 2 Team entries will receive the top 2 prizes in each category. Remaining prizes will be given by drawing with all participants eligible.
